The Lumen runtime engine for GL Studio is DiSTI’s newest advancement in human machine interface development technology allowing GL Studio users to expand their platform reach to include DirectX. In doing so, instrumentation integration with Prepar3D and other DirectX-based rendering technologies are possible. In addition to DirectX, the new Lumen runtime delivers the features required to meet the needs of today’s interface developers, including: multi-touch, animations, advanced text capabilities, support for new graphics card features, and the foundation to build once and deploy anywhere.
“The development of the new Lumen runtime for GL Studio represents a multi-million dollar development effort by DiSTI to ensure that our technology continues to meet the demands of our users well into the next decade. The successful integration with Prepar3D is a great example. For the past twelve years, GL Studio has been the no nonsense way for developers to build and integrate their instrumentation content into OpenGL-based scene graphs. Today they can count on the same access to the DirectX community,” said Darren Humphrey, CTO of DiSTI.
Lockheed Martin’s Prepar3D is a visual simulation platform that allows users to quickly create training scenarios across aviation, maritime and ground domains. Users can train anywhere in the virtual world, from under water to sub orbital space. Prepar3D also facilitates real-time training in a multi-player mode allowing users across the globe to collaboratively train for their missions or tasks. By integrating GL Studio with Lumen and Prepar3D, users gain the ability to generate high fidelity cockpit and instrumentation to match the highly immersive environment.
DiSTI’s Lumen Engine will be officially introduced at the Interservice/
