Amadeus' Operations Manager to Climb Kilimanjaro in aid of JDRF

Nov. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Carl, Operations Manager at Amadeus Acoustic Solutions, is determined to help raise funds for JDRF diabetes research by conquering the summit of the highest mountain in Africa.

JDRF are the world’s leading charitable funder of type 1 diabetes research, having invested £1billion in funding critical research. They work with academia, industry and governments to make sure that the research they fund has the greatest possible impact on the lives of people with type 1 now and in the future.

Carl's daughter, Laura-Beth Freslov, is just 11 years old and is now one of 29,000 children in the UK who suffer from type 1 diabetes. She has shown amazing courage and taken it all her stride, injecting the life saving insulin herself within 2 days of diagnosis.

The Kilimanjaro climb will take place from 17th-27th September 2013 as part of a complex 11 day itinerary organised by Classic Tours and – needless to say – a great deal of preparation is required for this courageous trip.

Carl has chosen the Marangu Route – one of the most popular Kilimanjaro climbs – which is highly challenging, taking place over just 5 days rather than the longer 6 day Machami route, which allows an additional day for participants to aclimitise to the altitude.

Of taking on the challenge to climb Kilimanjaro, Carl says “In a desire to inspire Laura-Beth, I am climbing Kilimanjaro in September 2013. It is important that children learn that with purpose and motivation nothing can hold you back. Your support will be greatly appreciated by all children whose suffering is eased by the wonderful charity JDRF.”
