The alumnus of St. Stephen’s College, Vinay started working with a public sector oil company and subsequently switched to the private sector, specializing in administration and marketing. Thereafter, he joined Danish Embassy in New Delhi which earned him the prestigious Queen’s medal for meritorious service. After his retirement from this job, Vinay was hired as the CEO by a Danish subsidiary. Here also he has noted contribution to set up their production unit near Delhi.
The fixed office hours in the years of his long tenure with the Danish Embassy gave him ample scope to revive his deep-rooted interest in theatre. During these years he was involved in over a hundred productions. In 2003 he was given the national award for Stage Craft by the Chaman Lal Memorial Society. During this period, he also reviewed nearly 200 plays as the Drama Critic for The Statesman.
In his long forty-five long years of working life; however, Capila retained his passion for writing. His old writings, stacked for so long, revived his interest in creative writing. He finds some of them really promising and makes up his mind to publish them following a thorough editing, which results in his new book, Little Matchsticks.
