HGTV Visits Vegas To Film an EXTREME Green Home

A Vegas Couple Proves that a Home can be Green and Gorgeous at the Same Time.

Nov. 30, 2012 - PRLog -- Las Vegas, NV - The HGTV hit TV show “Extreme Homes” that features amazing and unusual homes has landed in Las Vegas to film a home for the popular TV show. The home's owners, Scott and Cindy McCombs, are a Las Vegas couple that also own an Architectural Accent company, Realm of Design, in Henderson NV. The McCombs are an artistic couple that are in the business of beautifying homes and making them special for their clients. But it was the uniqueness of their own home that caught the attention of HGTV. Over the years Scott and Cindy have added many of their own personal design touches to their family home making it unique or “Extreme” as some might call it. Some of these extreme details include a pirate ship in their backyard along side a multi-level pool that was intended for scuba diving. But what is really unusual or extreme is that the home utilized so much recycled material in its beautiful and uncommon elements. Some viewers may find it hard to believe that such a divine majestic fireplace was made out of recycled glass or that the home's custom kitchen countertop and door handles were forged with recycled metals. The house is loaded with exquisite details that were all designed and constructed by the McCombs. They will amaze the the show's viewers.

Scott and Cindy are no strangers to media attention. They, along with their company Realm of Design, made headlines nationally and internationally for constructing the company's new 30,000 sq ft. manufacturing facility out of recycled glass. The sustainable building, properly named the Morrow Royal Pavilion, is the world's largest building made with recycled glass beer bottles. Scott McCombs was granted the patent earlier this year for the material used to construct the building (and the elements in his home) which is called Green Architectural Stone aka “GreenStone”. The aggregate building material is made with recycled glass that typically would have been landfilled and fly ash. Many of the extreme details presented in the McCombs' home were made with GreenStone not only because the material is eco-friendly but because it is a durable building material. Being environmentalists looking to reduce and recycle waste, the McCombs wanted their home to be beautiful, yet more sustainable , therefore, GreenStone and other recycled materials were incorporated into the designs.
The McCombs fascinating home is proof that architectural elements can be green and gorgeous at the same time. HGTV may call it Extreme, Scott and Cindy just call it home.

The Extreme Home's episode featuring the McCombs Las Vegas home will air in January- exact date TBA. Extreme Homes airs Thursdays on HGTV at 9pm/8c but check your local listings to confirm.
