GOOD NEWS SHOW WILL FEATURE ONLY HAPPY ENDINGS
Currently seeking support on Kickstarter.com
There are countless news format shows focused on not so happy news, people’s opinions,
and slander. Why are there no shows that feature only happy stories?
“Mainstream Media is only focused on the negative stories which feature death,
destruction, murder and general bad news. I think the modern viewer wants more happy stories,” says Emily High-Massengill, creator of Good News. "In fact they demand it. If you ever read the comments posted on positive online stores readers want more."
“The influence of good stories has unlimited potential for the world,” said Emily High-
Massengill, “Can you imagine how watching Good News with your family can affect
them and your day?”
The goal of Good News is to inspire, motivate and uplift its audience. It will start as a
weekly show and hopefully someday will become a daily program. The show features
good news from around the world, political good news, non-profit and charity coverage,
interviews with heroes and good Samaritans, a wedding proposal and Good Weather. The
Good Weather segment is unique, as it focuses on an ideal place in the world to travel to
for good weather. Another interesting segment is the Wedding proposal, which is viewer
submitted.
Good News is not on its way yet, it is currently seeking funding via the site
Kickstarter.com. The goal is to raise $8,000 by December 24, 2012 to produce an hour
long pilot to shop around to networks. The majority of the money will go towards
purchasing rights to good news stories from producers around the world and talent fees,
High-Massengill is not profiting off the production. The pilot will also be available to
view online.
“If you would like to support Good News on Kickstarter.com, there are lots of great
rewards. The greatest reward, however, is helping bring to life a TV show that could
really impact the world in a positive way.” says High-Massengill
The Good News Pilot has already been cast, Copeland Tucker and Rachel Garret will do
the in-studio anchor work, while Kim Kesterke steps in as the weatherwoman. Copeland
Tucker is currently attending UGA for Journalism and Rachel Garret works as an anchor
for Garnett. Kesterke has worked on various video projects for Hover Video productions,
the production company that is creating the program.
