Ft. Myers Hotel to Run Annual Holiday Bear Hug Promotion Benefiting Local Children’s Hospital

Nov. 29, 2012 - PRLog -- Ft. Myers, FL – Now through mid-December, businesses, families and individuals passing through or living in the area are invited to participate in the Holiday Inn Ft. Myers Airport at Gulf Coast Town Center’s 2012 Holiday Bear Hug drive.

Now in its fourth year, this annual holiday activity has been embraced by the local community and travelers alike. This year’s drive will begin shortly and conclude with a celebration on the evening of December 19, after which all the donated bears will be delivered to young patients at the Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. This prestigious hospital is one of only 250 medical institutions nationwide specializing in pediatric medicine, and is the region’s top provider of pediatric specialty care.

Anyone wishing to donate teddy bears should:

Visit the Build-A-Bear Workshop in the Coconut Point Mall (10% discount when “Holiday Bear Hug” is mentioned) or select brand-new bear(s) from another local retailer
Dress or decorate the bear(s) as desired
Bring the bear(s) to the Holiday Inn Ft. Myers Airport to be put on temporary display in the lobby (the sooner the better)
Attend the Holiday Bear Hug Celebration at the hotel on December 19, 2012, starting at 6 p.m., where the bears will be judged by celebrities and be eligible to receive awards, including “most original” and “most huggable”

Participants are encouraged to bring their bears to be displayed in the hotel lobby several days before the Holiday Bear Hug celebration. The celebratory event is open to the public, and complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served. A cash bar will also be available, and a portion of its proceeds will also be donated to the Lee Memorial Foundation, along with all the bears at the end of the night.
