“In a poll of our members, they shouted loud and clear that it’s not the taxes, stupid! It’s the spending that is leading us down the road to perdition.”
As the number of respondents in the AMAC poll continued to climb toward the 9,000 mark, the vast majority of those surveyed – as many as 90% of them – said they want to see Federal spending cut in all departments of government and they want to see the Bush tax cuts continued.
“Isn’t it about time that our lawmakers began listening to their older and wiser constituents,”
“By concentrating on the creation of a brave new, socialist world, the administration has shown a blatant disregard for the fate of the 99% in 2013 and beyond. Whether or not President Obama succeeds in ultimately raising taxes on the 1% is of no consequence to the rest of us. We need our government to do the right thing; namely, we need our government to stop spending our hard earned money like a bunch of drunken sailors.”
The AMAC chief said he was appalled at the indifference the administration has shown to the need to ensure Social Security and Medicare remain solvent for current and future retirees. “Instead, we get harangued with ‘talking points’ about the need to raise taxes on the rich, as if the additional income it would produce is enough to make a difference. After all, it will only give the government that much more money to spend. And, that’s the problem.”
Weber said the Federal government is overrun with “spendthrift”
“Think Solyndra, the GSA house party scandal and the hundreds of earmark projects that have nickeled and dimed us over the years—particularly the past four years. A hundred million here, a hundred million there and pretty soon you’re talking about real money, to paraphrase the late Senator Everett Dirksen.”
