Your House: Using your septic system at home to dump your gray and black tanks can be one solution. If the septic is not easy to get to, you may want to buy a macerator pump. This pump will take care of anything solid so that it will fit through a hose. It will then pump everything into your septic through the hose. It will depend on the brand of pump, but you should be able to pump the tank starting at your driveway and going two hundred feet or less to the septic. It is possible to pump uphill.

Transfer Tank: For people that own a fifth wheel or an RV that you tow, it is possible to store a transfer tank in the tow vehicle bed. You can use a macerator to pump the septic inside of the transfer tank. After that, you can take the tank to a dump site to empty it. This is easier than hooking up the RV and carrying it out to the site if you are going to be staying in one place for a little while.

Travel Centers: There are some travel centers out there that offer places for RVs to dump waste. Most of them do not charge a fee for dumping, but you will want to double check beforehand. Some welcome centers will also offer dump stations. You can record a station when you find it so that you will remember it next time you travel through that location. Remember that some travel and welcome centers will not offer dump stations.

Campgrounds: There are campgrounds that will let travelers use their dump stations. You should always get permission before dumping to be certain the campground allows it and does not charge anything.

Parks: If a park offers camping, there may also be places to dump your RV waste. You can find out if there are fees before you start dumping. If you are not a camper, a park may charge you $5. Campers can usually dump free.

Sporting Goods Stores: You may want to ask at stores like Cabela's to see if they have a place for you to empty your waste. You can find out the cost ahead of time. RVdumps states that Cabela's that is located in East Hartford, Connecticut does not charge anything for dumping.

Wastewater treatment plant: There are dump stations at a few wastewater treatment plants. You will want to find out if the plant in your area offers this service. You also want to learn how much it cost beforehand. You will also want to find out what time the plant opens and closes. The treatment plant located in Manchester, New Hampshire does not charge for dumping, but it is not open on the weekends.

Gas stations: Although some gas stations have dump stations, you should always ask about fees before you use them. In Lincoln, New Hampshire, there is a Mobil that charges $5. They are open from 5:00 am until 9:00 pm each day. On Fridays and Saturdays, they stay open until 11:00 pm.

RVdumps says that there is also a Kwik Stop located in Lancaster that charges $10.

RV Dealerships: You can ask about RV dealership dump stations. They are usually open during business hours. Sometimes these dealerships may be across the street like in Brookesville, Florida. They have a car and RV dealership with the same name. Register Chevrolet and then there is Register RV. RVdumps says that the Chevrolet dealership offers the dump station. There is no cost for dumping, but it can only be used when the dealership is open.
