Follow on Google News | Visit to Organic Soybean Project in Madhya Pradesh, IndiaA team of Nature Bio-Foods Limited, Do-It B.V Holland and DEG Germany have visited organic Soybean project in Tamia, district Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh
The aim of this project is to establish an integrated supply chain of organic soybeans among 1,700 selected smallholder farmers in Madhya Pradesh, India. All smallholder farmers were organised into 26 village based producer groups. These village based producer groups incorporated into one association named Fair farming Foundation. Mr.Tapan Ray (CEO,NBFL) said that we are bringing significant development in the farmers overall socio-economic condition. We are achieving the development with environment friendly and sustainably organic production. Further he said that the project is enhancing the knowledge of the farmers through extension and trainings in crop production with modern organic agriculture technologies. Mr. Abhijeet Bhosale(G. Secretary, FFF) said that “For the formation of well structured village based producer group, every individual farmer is enrolled as a member of Fair Farming Foundation. This process was initiated during the 2011 cropping season. Now very soon governing body of FFF Chhindwara district will be elected through a democratic process. This will going to help the farmers to be a part of the decision making process. Mr. Amit Singh (Lead CSR, NBFL) ”These farmers groups were located in the remote villages mostly followed traditional farming with limited access to modern organic agriculture and inadequate access to market. This project is of significant importance to all the participating farmers for their socio-economic development. It is resulting in overall development of the farmers from being empowered to increase their livelihood. During the visit, an interaction programme was conducted with the farmers in the Lotiya village, Tamia block, district Chhindwara. Farmers shared their experiences related to the project, organic agriculture, impacts and outcomes. Mr. Hans (Do-It B.V Holland) and Mrs. Sussane (DEG,Germany) Mr. Hans said that its great to see the impact of the project. It is reaching the message of organic agriculture in rural areas & demonstrate the same for rural development, poverty reduction, ecological farming, natural resource management, Bio-diversity conservation, protection of environment & women empowernment.
