Studies show that carrots have hidden health benefits

Carrots are even better for your health than previously believed. It was known before that carrots are great for your vision, your heart, and your waistline. But now even more health benefits have been revealed.

PRLog - Nov. 27, 2012 - BOSTON -- Although it is common knowledge that carrots are good for vision and for weight loss, the other benefits of this vegetable are not very well known. The other health benefits of carrots are slowly being uncovered.

Carrots contain beta-carotene, which is an antioxidant that the human body converts into vitamin A.  Vitamin A is not only good for the eyes; it also is beneficial to the skin.  Beta-carotene has also been shown to slow down the aging process by preventing cell damage.

Surprisingly, carrots are also great for dental health.  Studies have shown that eating a carrot is like using a natural toothbrush.  The crunchy texture mixed with the fibers in carrots clean teeth naturally.

Finally, carrots are also shown to prevent many diseases, including heart disease and cancer.  More research is being conducted to see what other major diseases carrots can prevent.

Carrots bring many health benefits that were not previously realized, and more research is being done to discover what other advantages this vegetable can bring.
