The paralyzing problems of debt, mistrust, declining numbers and deferred maintenance can be overwhelming for pastors and other leaders. Leading three institutional turnarounds over the past twenty-five years, Dr. Rutland shares through real-life examples and practical solutions in his new book to guide others through the hard, sometimes dangerous work of turning failure into success. Accessible and filled with humor, infectious joy and hard-earned business insights, ReLaunch shows leaders how to:
· Cast a vision while facing reality.
· Align market, message and medium.
· Transform corporate culture.
· Lead from Quality to Excellence.
· Re-Energize and lead a board.
“This book is for the rugged visionaries who see in the wreckage a hope for the future and are willing to pay the price for a relaunch,” says Dr. Rutland.
“I can assure you…I am no miracle worker,” continues Dr. Rutland in ReLaunch. “The success I’ve had has come from being bold in the pursuit of a vision, implementing a plan, learning from my mistakes and understanding what it takes to summon the best in people—not from just sitting around and hoping for a miracle.”
Written from experience, Dr. Rutland has guided back to prominence Calvary Church, an Orlando, FL - based church in deep debt with attendance down by the thousands, Southeastern University, a Lakeland, FL-based college with its buildings in shambles, its faculty demoralized and its enrollment at rock bottom, and ORU, a Tulsa, OK - based university facing lawsuits, scandal and near-bankruptcy. Each situation involved different needs, but each benefited from a leader who could restore hope, vision and viability. Practical, inspiring and transparent, ReLaunch is for every leader who will ever need to steer a ship through a crisis.
The third president of ORU, Dr. Rutland is a distinguished educator, charismatic leader, businessman and a nationally recognized figure in Christian higher education, concurrently serving as the president of the National Institute of Christian Leadership. The active pursuit of intellectual and spiritual awakening is central to Dr. Rutland's worldview.
As president of Global Servants (www.globalservants.org), Dr. Rutland founded ministries in Ghana and Thailand, including a House of Grace for girls in both countries. The two homes house more than 130 girls.
A native of Texas, Dr. Rutland was educated at the University of Maryland and Candler College of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, and holds a Ph.D. from California Graduate School of Theology.
