A Leader in Philanthropic Medical Research is Named a Fellow of The Institute of Medicine of Chicago

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 27, 2012 - The Institute of Medicine of Chicago is an independent organization of distinguished leaders in the health field who collaborate to improve the health of the public.  The IOMC draws upon the expertise of a diverse membership to address critical health issues through a range of interdisciplinary approaches including education, research, communication of trusted information and community engagement.  The IOMC welcomes professionals at two levels:  membership and fellowship.  Fellows are nominated by their peers and are graduates in medicine and allied fields, or distinguished persons engaged in allied pursuits, whose professional contributions are meritorious, who demonstrate leadership in improving the health of the community, and who manifest the highest ethics, standards, and principles of professionalism.

Cures Within Reach has established itself over the last decade as a philanthropic leader in the Repurposing Revolution:  a growing trend within medical research to search for undiscovered healing impacts in already FDA-approved drugs and devices.  As a public charity led by Dr. Bloom, Cures Within Reach is uniquely poised to search for and select medical research projects which have the highest chances for patient impact in the near term, and to create funding collaborations around these projects to ensure their progress.  These projects may or may not offer opportunities for industry profit, but offer consistently high opportunities for life-changing treatments for patients in need.

In December of 2012, Dr. Bloom will join this community of nurses, physicians, researchers, community health workers, and many others to work towards solutions to complex health-related issues affecting the region.
