Support Techniques for Alzheimer’s and Dementia Caregivers is Focus of Upcoming Free Webinar

Nov. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- (November 27, 2012) Portland, Ore. — Sharon Brothers, chief executive officer of the Institute for Professional Care Education (IPCed) will be the featured presenter of the webinar “It Takes a Village: Supporting Families & Caregivers Caring for People with Alzheimer’s and Dementia,” scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 28, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. , Pacific Standard Time.

The webinar is presented in conjunction with National Alzheimer’s Family Caregiver Awareness Month and is designed to help caregivers and families learn coping and support techniques to care for individuals with Alzheimer’s or dementia.

Brothers offers nearly three decades of experience in the senior care industry as an owner and operator of assisted living and memory care facilities, social worker, educator and family caregiving advocate. She continues to be active in community aging support services, facilitating the Willamette Falls Hospital Alzheimer’s support group and participating on the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council.

“I want to share my experiences to help ease the burdens of families and caregivers dealing with Alzheimer’s and dementia.” Brothers said. “My years of following research, as well as my time listening to and working alongside caregivers for the memory impaired, both professionally and with my own family, have helped me to define key coping techniques that help caregivers care for themselves and those for whom they care.”
