Nov. 27, 2012 - PRLog -- Mr Barry Davis, as pictured, was a long term sufferer of kidney stones before he received the 500th Lithotripsy treatment from senior radiographer Doctor Phil Thompson at Springfield Hospital near Chelmsford, Essex on the 2nd August – his birthday.

Mr Davis said, “It is an unusual thing to have done on your birthday, but getting rid of my kidney stones will be a great present. The team at Springfield were fantastic and really looked after me. I even had the best cup of tea ever!”

Doctor Phil Thompson, who, since it was installed last year, has been operating this state of the art Lithotripsy machine which is the only one in the region said “ I am delighted that we have been able to help so many patients locally who suffer from kidney stones which can be a very persistent and a painful condition. The Lithotripsy service offers a safe and non invasive alternative to surgery and until we started offering this at Springfield, patients were having to travel to London for this treatment.”
