By: Alternate Reality Comics The Hernandez brothers will be available to meet fans and sign books at Alternate Reality (4110 S. Maryland Parkway, Suite 8) from 3 to 6 p.m. on Saturday. The store will also offer 20 percent off Love and Rockets comics and graphic novels, as well as a $15 commemorative print created by Gilbert and Jaime, limited to only 75 copies. Complimentary beverages and snacks will also be served. “I’d like to implore everyone to come out and lavish ego strokes upon the artistic giants that Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez are,” says Ralph Mathieu, owner of Alternate Reality. Love and Rockets, which was originally self-published by the brothers in 1982, has been published regularly since then by Fantagraphics Books, and has earned the all of the comic industry’s top awards – Kirby, Inkpot and Harvey -- for both Hernandez brothers. Gilbert, who has been a Las Vegas resident for more than a decade, was also awarded a United States Artists fellowship in 2009 for his contribution to literature. End
