MURRIETA, Calif.
-- Low-income residents have more opportunity than ever to go solar, thanks to a new partnership announced today.

HelioPower (http://www.heliopower.com/) has teamed up with Grid Alternatives (http://www.gridalternatives.org/) to install free or generously subsidized solar power systems for low-income homeowners as part of the state of California’s SASH (Single-Family Affordable Solar Homes (http://www.cpuc.ca.gov/PUC/energy/Solar/sash.atm)) program.

SASH provides generous subsidies and in some instances covers all costs for qualified low-income residents wanting to install solar power systems on their homes. In addition to providing incentives, SASH is structured to promote or provide energy efficiency, workforce development and green jobs training opportunities, and to broad community engagement with low-income communities.

HelioPower was selected for the program based on its proven record of high quality workmanship, excellent pricing, outstanding customer service, and a steadfast commitment to SASH's workforce development component.

“We are extremely honored to have been selected to participate in this very important initiative,” said Scott Gordon, senior vice-president of sales at HelioPower. “The energy savings provided by solar energy should be available to all. Grid Alternatives and SASH make the benefits of solar a reality for those who otherwise couldn’t afford it, yet stand to benefit most.”

For more information, contact HelioPower at 1-877-652-7888 or visit GRID Alternatives at www.gridalternatives.org.

GRID Alternatives is a non-profit organization that brings the benefits of solar technology to low-income communities. Using a barn-raising model, GRID Alternatives leads teams of volunteers and job trainees to install solar electric systems for low-income homeowners, providing needed savings for families struggling to make ends meet, preparing workers for jobs in the fast-growing solar industry and reducing carbon emissions.

“GRID Alternatives installer training program is a wonderful resource for the solar industry,” said Gordon. “The quality of the people coming out of their program is second to none.”
