AllTranscript.com Transcriptions Reduces its Carbon Footprint for a Clean, Greener Environment.

Nov. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- Alltranscript.com, a New York based transcription service company recently introduced a policy ‘Ekoluv’ in order to keep a check on its carbon footprint numbers.  The company had started working on the policy sometime in mid of August when an employee Transcriptionist proposed an idea at the weekly meeting. The management appreciated the proposal and undertook a feasibility study.  

Rahul K, Service manager of Alltranscript.com explains “During the feasibility phase, our main priority was to become greener without incurring heavy expenses. To our surprise this was much easier and pock friendly that we had initially thought. After the budgeting, we started working on finding simple ways and techniques which would allow us to meet our goal. So what we did next was – We held an inhouse contest and asked each one of our transcribers to give us their best possible ideas. At the end of the contest, when the idea Pandora box was opened, we found some really simple-to-implement yet result oriented techniques for reducing our Electrical energy consumption. ”

Melissa, a transcriber working with Alltranscript.com, came up with an idea to paint the building to White. “Our company’s building was due for a repaint. So we thought why not go for the color white. Why? Because on wavelength spectrum, white is the color which reflect maximum heat and absorbs minimum radiations. The expected results were to be found in the lowering of the building and room temperature by 1-2 degree Celsius. This meant our dependency on Air conditioning was reduced by approximately 10-15 percent.”

The company came with several other techniques under its Ekoluv Green policy. These included:

Optimizing desktop and laptop power requirements by reducing excess screen brightness.

Activating sleep modes during computer inactivity.

Replacing old CRT monitors with LCD flat screens.

Changeover to LED and CFL lightings.

Switching of Photocopier when not in use.

Encouraging employees to carpool to and from office commute.

Create a notice board display with information posters refreshed on a Weekly basis.

However one the major changes that was made to the above list was the discouragement in use of Paper for office work. Employees were encouraged to avoid paper-printouts when it was avoidable and depend on electronic forms of communication  and book keeping of records.

The top management of Alltranscript.com is excited about these changes and is optimistic on more such initiatives in the future. The company aims to achieve a high level of efficiency in all of its business process whether done inhouse or outside.
