On “Women with Initiative” Column This Month: Malawi’s Zikomo Bags Supports HIV/AIDS Patients

The International Women’s Initiative continues monthly features at its Survivor’s Blog column “Women with Initiative” with Kristy May, the co-founder of Zikomo Bags based in Malawi.
 
Nov. 26, 2012 - PRLog -- The International Women’s Initiative continues monthly features at its Survivor’s Blog column “Women with Initiative” with Kristy May, the co-founder of Zikomo Bags based in Malawi.

While working with an organic farming NGO in the capital of Malawi, Lilongwe, May launched an income-generating project for the local women who were affected from HIV/ AIDS.  Producing and selling handmade bags from local textiles Zikomo Bags is a true business run by the women for the women. Sustainability of the business is as important as building women’s capacities. Zikomo Bags is looking to build partnerships with organisations or businesses to bulk buy their bags on a yearly basis.

International Women's Initiative is a non-profit organisation which supports and works to strengthen women and women's community efforts across the globe. IWI’s is currently working on the Safe Birthing Programme, in collaboration with Hope Development Initiative. The programme aims to improve maternal health and infant mortality in the Amolatar district of Uganda.
