"First and foremost we’re gamers, and we have been for a long time," explains Serendipity Software’s Udi Tizan. "It’s been our dream to see the Amazon Queen take flight once again, and we’re hoping Kickstarter can help get it off the ground." Originally released in 1995 for the Commodore Amiga and DOS platforms, Flight of the Amazon Queen is one of the finest examples of mid-90s graphical point-and-click adventure games. Cast in the role of hero-for-hire Joe King, players are thrown into the depths of the Amazon after the eponymous plane crash lands. A stirring, absorbing and, at times, hilarious adventure ensues involving movie star Faye Russell, a tribe of Amazonian women, mutated dinosaur warriors and a lederhosen factory. “It’s quite simply one of the finest games ever made,” adds programmer Ariel Orbach, “but our plans are much grander than a straightforward Android port. We need to make sure it’s as playable and engaging as it was on the home computers, and that’s going to take a lot of work to accomplish.” The studio has built and tested an early prototype to help visualize where Flight of the Amazon Queen needs adapting to ensure it remains fun and playable on a touchscreen platform and on devices such as the Ouya open-source console. Amongst many other enhancements, a magnifying glass function has been designed that allows players to see and explore every detail in the game’s incredible artwork on a smaller screen without losing any of its charm. The Kickstarter campaign, which runs from November 21st 2012 until January 6th 2013, is offering backers a host of enticing rewards for helping Serendipity Software to realize this ambitious and exciting retro revival project 17 years after the game’s original release. Tizan continues, “With the help of the retro gaming community help, this campaign’s success will allow us deliver a rendition of this valued title that maintains the original’s spirit, yet harnesses all the superb features offered by today’s digital touchscreen technologies.” External: Trailer: http://youtu.be/ Website: http://serendipity- Kickstarter Campiagn: http://www.kickstarter.com/ About Serendipity Software: Serendipity is a software solution house for the Android platform and all supported devices.
