The first single off the record, ‘17’s’, highlights the bands refined sound, rooted in their love of 70’s rock and melodic capacities. A catchy guitar riff forms the basis for the song allowing lead singer Sam Gotley to show off his rugged, powerful vocals. Stripping the song back in the chorus the bands ambitious sound has certain epic qualities. As an album, ‘Home To Andy’s’ showcases the bands impressive songwriting range. Songs such as ‘One and Only’ demonstrate the upbeat ‘garage pop’ feel of the band, whilst ‘Maria’ is a beautiful ballad, a master class in musical restraint. Elsewhere, the song ‘Carousels and Limousines’ gives off a Bruce Springsteen ‘Nebraska’
The bands highly developed sound has led them to earning impressive comparisons with such names as The Faces, Bruce Springsteen and The Gaslight Anthem. ‘Home To Andy’s’ certainly contains many of the musical influences from this talented group. Clearly the future is set to be bright for this refreshing group.
