Nov. 23, 2012 - PRLog -- Attention Tunkhannock area bakers and candy confectioners!  Let visions of sugarplums dance in your head while the spicy smell of gingerbread warms your kitchen.  This year, the Tunkhannock Business and Professional Association, in conjunction with Robinson’s Martial Arts Studio and Brick’s Market, is organizing two contests for sweet lovers.  The gingerbread house contest, which has traditionally been a part of “Christmas in Our Hometown” will be joined this year by a Holiday Candy Crafts contest.

“There seems to be a lot of enthusiasm in the area for both contests” relates Nancy Parlo, TBPA coordinator.  “The Dietrich Theater recently sponsored classes for both gingerbread house and candy craft construction.  The theater generously offered both classes free of charge to allow participants the opportunity to learn from some professionals.  Gina Sherwood, noted area baker, instructed the Gingerbread House workshop while Eileen Barziloski of Ebb’s Candy Jar provided instructions for the editable holiday decorations.

Robinson’s Martial Arts studio will be hosting the display of the contest entries during “Christmas in Our Hometown” on Friday, December 7 and Saturday, December 8.  Brick’s Market has donated $100 worth of gift certificates to be awarded to prize winners in both contests.

Rules for both contests are available on the TBPA website www.tunkhannockbusiness.com.  Entries can be delivered to Robinson’s Martial Arts Studio, 18 E. Tioga Street, on Thursday, Dec. 6 between 4 and 7:30 pm.  Or Friday, Dec 7 between 3:30 and 5:00 pm.  A copy of a completed entry  form must be presented with each entry.  Contests will be judged Friday evening.  All submissions should be pickup up on Monday, Dec. 10 – 4:15 – 8 p.m. Four winners will be selected. One adult and one child entry in each of the Gingerbread House and the Holiday Candy Craft contests will receive a $25 gift prize courtesy of Brick’s Market.

“We appreciate everyone’s cooperation to make these contests possible,” relates Parlo.  “Creating a Gingerbread House and some editable candy decorations are wonderful family activities that can become great holiday traditions.”
