PRLog - Nov. 22, 2012 - Shaney McCoy recalls the onset of her songwriting. She began performing professionally in the early 90’s in Atlanta as lead singer and rhythm guitarist for a country band. Her focus at that time was college and grad school and about three years later picked up where she left off (2009) when her pursuit truly became a focus in her career. She began performing and recording as a solo artist with her acoustic guitar. Occasionally she performed as a trio (The Shaney McCoy Trio) but still primarily performed solo shows. During this time, she completed his second project titled “Bridges I Can’t Burn” with single “Right as Rain” leading the way.
“Right as Rain” is about love and relationships not being perfect. The relationships that last go through many difficulties, the ones that weather the storm, know how to accept that moment whether good or bad and just move on. The analogy is that nothing is perfect in life so ‘best you don’t complain’. This song is exquisite. Shaney’
Shaney McCoy is an extraordinary talent. Audiences and fans alike know what to expect from her. Her experience as a solo artist always had a personal connection with audiences everywhere. Those who relate to her stories and those that need that infusion of inspiration both benefit. Her use of the slide guitar is evident and gives her music texture and character. Her music lifts you up, puts a smile on your face and you end up having a better day. This is medicine for the soul.
“Bridges I Can’t Burn” was created using professional studio musicians, which challenged Shaney to work on arrangements that create a full and intricate sound but also would also keep the integrity of the lyrical content and vocals, which truly is the heart of her music.
