Discover how to give your business the upper hand in your YouTube video marketing from the top video marketing strategist on the web.
By: Your Research Diva - Dawn Damico James Wedmore, founder of Video Traffic Academy, a 6000 plus strong community of small business owners who are leveraging video YouTube marketing to build a solid business online, was recently interviewed by Jon Rognerud who gives small business owners marketing and SEO tips. http://www.youtube.com/ In this 45 minute information packed interview, Wedmore who has been featured on Entrepreneur.com, shows the small business owner how to move from inaction as a result of “the sea of overwhelm” to implementing a video marketing strategy that can drive traffic and customers to your doorstep – virtual or real. Defining your Video Marketing Strategy According to James, many small business owners focus on the wrong thing when they start using video in their business. Rather than really understanding the powerful role that video plays in their overall marketing, they focus instead on the details. The type of camera to use. The length of the video. And what to wear. Sure, at some point you have to know those answer; however, first comes the intention. What is the intention of your video? Making and posting a video on YouTube is no longer an anomaly. And in fact, for some businesses it’s almost expected. So what the small business owner really needs to look at is the intention of the video. Why are you making it? And what do you expect the viewer to do after they watch it? Your job as a small business owner is to point them in the right direction. To do that, you have to know where to point them. That’s you’re intention. Driving Traffic with YouTube Video According to Wedmore, an online marketing strategy can be boiled down to two simple things: traffic and conversions. And, marketing with video can do both. In the case study explored during the interview, step one for the small business owner is to make a series of YouTube videos that will drive traffic to the business website. So why use YouTube marketing for your video strategy? According to James Wedmore…because it works! It’s what he uses in his own business, and it’s what he’s taught his students to use in theirs. Since other small businesses are getting results using YouTube video marketing, over 6000 within the Video Traffic Academy community, then it’s a proven strategy that can be duplicated by any entrepreneur. And How Do you Make Great Videos for Marketing? Through a proven six-step video creation process that Wedmore covers in the interview. And before you think that six steps are too many to tackle, consider the predictions that by the year 2014, 90% of traffic online will be video based. And, since more people have access to the devices and the technology to retrieve those videos on hand-held and mobile devices, it’s no wonder that video is where the future of internet traffic is headed. So what should a small business owner do? Well, not surprisingly Wedmore recommends that they should create more video. Even if they have a fear of video. “The analogy that I give is that I went skydiving for the first time back in March. I told myself about two years earlier that I was clearly never going to jump out of an airplane as long as I lived. I have a very healthy fear of flying, falling and heights. So skydiving was very hard. Then I got conned into it by a friend. He posted it on Facebook, saying James is too afraid to go skydiving and won’t you help me convince him. 20 minutes later 200 people commented and I felt like I had to go. The only way that I could mentally do it, jump out of an airplane willingly, was if I only let my brain focus on one step at a time. Step one; put on the jump suite. Step two; just get on the plane. I feel that that works the best for people…” If you’re a small business that wants to market with video, then the six steps covered in the interview could be just what you need.
