Donations Can Be Made Online to Fight Childhood Cancer

Milwaukee, Wisconsin - November 21, 2012 - Candy Cane Lane, the West Allis, Wisconsin neighborhood that annually becomes a holiday wonderland, has a new online home. Now, for the first time, donations to The MACC Fund can be made through Candy Cane Lane online at http://candycanelanewi.com. The new website was created and donated by American Website Company, LLC, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Each year, from the day after Thanksgiving through the day after Christmas, over 300 households in West Allis, Wisconsin decorate their homes for the holidays. This neighborhood, from 92nd Street to 96th Street and from Montana Avenue to Oklahoma Avenue, is known as Candy Cane Lane. The public is invited to drive or walk through the neighborhood, free of charge, to enjoy the lights and decorations. Local celebrities and athletes sometimes stop by to shake hands, and Santa Claus himself is a frequent visitor.

At the intersection of 95th and Manitoba, volunteers collect donations for The MACC Fund, Midwest Athletes against Childhood Cancer. The goal of The MACC Fund is to find a cure for childhood cancer and related blood disorders by providing research funding.  Since 1984 Candy Cane Lane has collected over $1.6 million in donations for The MACC Fund.

Scott Lindberg, owner of American Website Company, LLC, said, “It was an honor to be asked to create the Candy Cane Lane website. My father died of cancer, though obviously not in his childhood, and I have a nephew who is a childhood cancer survivor. And Candy Cane Lane is such a wonderful Milwaukee tradition; it’s just great to be a part of it.” “It has been an absolute pleasure working with Scott Lindberg from American Website Company,” said Colleen O’Neil Moran, Development Officer for The MACC Fund, because “he is fast, professional, courteous, easily accessible and very knowledgable,” and then added, “He is passionate about his work and it shows!”
