Saint Monica University Partners With International Forensic Accounting Institute

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 21, 2012 - Saint Monica University (SMU) and the International Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professionals (IICFIP) today announced that they have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will lead to reciprocal certifications.

“The purpose of the MOU is to establish collaboration between SMU and IICFIP that will lead to the mutual recognition and certification of the forensic accounting programs offered by both institutions,” said Prof. Januarius Jingwa (JJ) Asongu, Chancellor of SMU. “SMU will recognize and offer SMU academic certificates and credits to holders of IICFIP’s Certified Forensic Investigation Professional (CFIP) certification.”

In order to guarantee the academic integrity of the program, SMU will review the CFIP program on an annual basis to ascertain that it meets SMU’s high academic standards. SMU will then award academic credits to holders of the CFIP certification who elect to have university credits.

“We are proud to welcome Saint Monica University as the first university to get our affiliation,” said Mr. Sosthenes Bichanga, President and Chief Executive Officer of IICFIP. “IICFIP affiliation is a very serious thing and we offer it only to universities whose programs meet our high standards. We certify only programs that offer both theoretical and practical skills in the area of forensic accounting. We’ll also award the prestigious CFIP certification to graduates of SMU Forensic Accounting program.”
