He said, “Work for a purpose, keep a balanced life and give back to the community”. He continued in the same thread of thought to say, “You might make money, you might find success in what you do but it means nothing unless you have a purpose,”
“Everyone, including organisations, should have a purpose. And that purpose must be society. We must eventually give rather than just receive.”
His further advised, for being potential entrepreneurs they needed to keep in mind certain pointers such as; Determination – “if you don’t have that, don’t think about going out there, it’s a jungle”, Innovation – “innovate or die”, Speed – “if you are not fast enough, you lose opportunities”
The gist of the key note speech by the noteworthy entrepreneur focussed on the trifecta - determination, courage and perseverance. Without these characteristics success would evade them.
The speech by Mr. Al-Taher was organised by the school in efforts to motivate students to develop leadership skills and project thought leadership in the future. The experience and knowledge shared by successful business heads has been a way by which the school intends to expose students to all prospective opportunities open to them.
The event also saw the presence of some leading global companies such as Bayt, Al Futtaim Group, Booz & Company, PricewaterhouseCoopers, HSBC, KPMG, Standard Chartered, to name a few. The purpose was to introduce the students to recruitment opportunities with these top organisations.
