Boon for Exporters - Ground-breaking technology makes human translation faster, easier, cheaper

Nov. 21, 2012 - PRLog -- The new system, Coach, provides machine translation for the human reviewer to edit.  The difference between Coach and other post-edited machine translations is that Coach is wholly customisable according to the style, specialist phraseology and requirements of the client’s material.

Lingo24’s founder and Managing Director Christian Arno explained, “For example, an engineering components company might need a catalogue translated for their websites in other countries.  Coach would ensure consistency in their own terminology and style, and automatically customise the level of quality they need”.

“Coach automates some of the most time-consuming parts of the translation process, and can cut costs to the client by between 40 and 80 per cent. Since it enables translators to work more efficiently, they also earn more.  It is a gain all round”.

For their innovative work in this field Lingo24 last month won the most prestigious international award in the translation industry.  The Excellence Award was bestowed by TAUS, the Translation Automation User Society, at their annual conference in Seattle, USA.

The translation company (http://www.lingo24us.com/) collaborated with experts in Computational Linguistics from Edinburgh University to develop the software for the new platform. Mr Arno said:  “We are thrilled that our work together with Edinburgh University has been greeted with such international enthusiasm. Coach will have a significant impact on the translation industry as a whole.  We will be rolling out the system over the next few months".

Mr Arno, a languages graduate, set up Lingo24 from his parents’ spare room in Aberdeenshire in 2001. He has built it into a global company, with more than 180 staff on five continents, and over 4000 professional linguists worldwide translating some 60 million words a year.
