In this show, Power 92’s Jade will focus on Leving’s interview with President Barack Obama previously airing on Power’s sister station, SOUL 106.3 FM. Leving, who sits on the President’s National Finance Committee, noted the importance of President Obama’s message on fatherhood:
“President Obama passionately spoke of the need of paternal involvement. The government can help to make sure that we don’t have a disincentive for fathers to be involved.”
President Obama, who has praised Leving’s newest book How to Be a Good Divorced Dad (Jossey-Bass 2012), agreed with Leving’s focus on reconnecting children with their fathers. How to Be a Good Divorced Dad addresses the importance of staying connected with your children and other crucial pieces of advice to divorced dads today. Leving says the biggest take away point from his book is to not give up hope.
“My newly released book, How to Be a Good Divorced Dad, is designed specifically so dads don’t walk away, that they don’t give up hope… so they aren’t fearful of the court-system. The most effective way to be a good divorced dad is to learn and protect your legal rights so you don’t end up a target looking for an arrow.”
