Acupuncture Barcelona: Open As Usual Christmas 2012

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 20, 2012 - Number 382 Carrer Muntaner is home to the acupuncture clinic services created by Barcelona acupuncturist Ruth Westnidge (BSc Hons Traditional Chinese Medicine). Formerly practising in London, Ruth trained with an all Chinese team on Middlesex University’s four year full time BSc course, run in collaboration with the University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Beijing. She has also completed post-graduate studies with Westminster University, and specialist Microsystems and Cosmetic Acupuncture training with The Yuan Traditional Medicine College and The College of Chinese Medicine, London, UK. Having practiced acupuncture in one form or another since 1998, Ruth relocated to Barcelona and began her practice as an English language service before expanding to work with Spanish speaking patients. She also occasionally works in French.  The clinic began in Gracia, before finding its final home at nearby ‘Studio Kinetic’ (Carrer Muntaner), less than one minutes walk from the Muntaner ferrocarril train station. The centre is also home to a multi-disciplinary team of highly qualified and experienced osteopaths, Kinesiologists, Pilates instructors and personal trainers. As well as providing appointments for her own patients, Ruth also frequently provides holiday cover for her Barcelona acupuncturist colleagues.

The acupuncture service will be open over most of the Christmas season 2012, only closing for Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day (Dec 24th to 26th).

Patients are currently offered Traditional Chinese Medicine sessions for a variety of health problems. A snapshot of common complaints seen might include muscular and joint pains, headaches, gynaecological problems (including infertility and acupuncture for IVF embryo transfer days), stress related issues, frequent coughs/ colds/ flu, low energy, building motivation (including for weight loss) and managing feeling ‘anxious’ or ‘nervous’. There is also a specialised service, the Cosmetic Acupuncture face and / or neck sessions for a wide variety of beauty issues. This can include sagging muscle tone, lines and wrinkles, dark circles around the eyes, habitually 'red eyes', and a general loss of radiance to the skin tone and eyes. The sessions use the same Traditional Chinese Medicine approach, with dedicated techniques to help towards improving specific complaints. Then there are the low cost ear microsystems ear acupuncture sessions, purpose designed to help those on a more restricted budget still access a form of acupuncture for stress management, creating better sleep, relaxing better when dealing with a pain condition and enhancing overall well being.
