From the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where her floor routine is widely regarded as the “Greatest women’s Olympic floor routine in history,” to the floors of the Scheck Family Gymnasium at the MAR-JCC, Aly Raisman will be making a special appearance for her South Florida Fans.
Aly not only made history at the 2012 Olympics as the most decorated gymnast, she has also made history as one of the most decorated Jewish Female Athletes. For many, the gymnast's routine, which was performed to the traditional Hebrew folk song, “Hava Nagila,” added an extra nuance of poignancy and nostalgia. “Having that floor music wasn’t intentional,”
“The Jewish community has rallied around this young athlete, so it only seems fitting that we provide the opportunity and venue for Aly to visit with her fans– who subsequently consider her a positive Jewish role model,” mentions Paul Frishman, MAR-JCC Chief Operating Officer.
Aly Raisman’s appearance at the Michael-Ann Russell JCC in North Miami Beach, will include a V.I.P. segment with photo opportunities and autograph signing, as well as a General Presentation where Aly will speak about her love of gymnastics which started at the age of 18 months. “We expect a huge turnout for this event, as young members of neighboring gymnastics organizations will be attending, as well as members, families, and fans in the local Miami-Dade Jewish Community,” mentioned Gary Bomzer, President and CEO of the MAR-JCC. The event is free to MAR-JCC Members, $18 for individual non-members, and $36 for non-member families (up to four people). For more information, call 305-932-4200.
