Sign-ups Begin Nov. 30 for Simi YMCA's "Activate Simi Valley" Healthy Living Program

PRLog (Press Release) - Nov. 20, 2012 - SIMI VALLEY, CALIF.--Online registration for the Simi Valley Family YMCA's "Activate Simi Valley" healthy living program begins November 30. The free, eight-week program encourages participants to make healthy life changes, in part, through weekly confidential weigh-ins taking place every Friday. Participants will also receive nutrition and exercise materials and can attend talks from prominent health professionals.

         Last year, the first year of the program, over 800 Simi Valley residents took part. This year, the Y is accepting up to 1,300 registrations. An Activate Simi Valley kick-off, health fair and first weigh-in will take place at the Simi YMCA (3200 Cochran St., Simi Valley) on January 10 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The first 250 attendees will receive a free YMCA t-shirt.

         Groups and businesses are encouraged to participate in the Corporate/Group Challenge. Confidential individual results will be automatically calculated as part of the total group's weight loss.
