Whether the vehicle is equipped with air brakes or hydraulic brakes, the impact of uncontrolled roll away vehicles can be devastating. What was needed was a system that could make certain no driver could leave the drivers seat without "knowing" if the park brake was set.

With this goal in mind, Frank Williams, founder of Safety Brake Set Inc., began to design and develop safety systems that alert the driver if they fail to set the parking brake in a variety of specific situations and vehicles as defined by each customer. For example, one customer may wish to link the "Alert System" to the door of the vehicle. The 701D system will alert the driver if the brake is not set and they open any designated door(s) of the vehicle. This system is approved for use in the USA, Canada, South America, the UK, and Europe.

The 701S, another very popular brake alert system from SBS, links the alarm to the operator's seat. It will alert the driver if they leave the drivers seat and the parking brake is not set. This system has been in extensive use within the Metro Transit and School Bus Transportation industries across the USA, Canada and South America for more than twenty years.
