SAWs constructs high quality, removable and reusable wooden wheelchair ramps for individuals who cannot otherwise afford to free themselves from the imprisonment of their own homes. The ramps provide persons with disabilities and people with conditions of aging access to their world and allow them to remain in their communities. Since its founding in 2008, SAWs has constructed over 300 ramps in central Indiana and neighboring communities. However, it is estimated more than 90,000 people in Indiana are living with a disability that limits their ability to leave their homes. More information and volunteer opportunities can be found at www.sawsramps.org . SAWs is an ecumenical ministry that welcomes and encompasses many churches, denominations, faiths and organizations. Volunteers come from all walks of life and every vocation imaginable. Men and women alike help to provide freedom to those who would otherwise be trapped by everyday obstacles and financial circumstances. SAWs began as an outreach of Second Presbyterian Church and is primarily funded by Second Presbyterian and St. Luke's United Methodist Churches of Indianapolis. Other funding comes from various sponsors from across the state of Indiana and nationally, as well as individual donations of all amounts including in-kind contributions.
