Two Creative Developers Bring Their Password Management App to IndieGoGo

Las Vegas, Nevada, November 2012 – Imagine a world where remembering passwords didn’t have to be an issue. Most people have problems remembering, tracking, and saving passwords and inevitably end up using the same one over and over again to access various applications and websites. This can lead to an unsafe digital space where passwords can easily be figured out. According to the 2012 Unisys Security Index, it takes just five minutes to crack a six character, lowercase password.

To help solve this problem and to create a safer digital world with simple password management, MagicKey has decided to partner with IndieGoGo for crowd-funding to help launch their innovative password management smartphone app. MagicKey will be a ‘freemium’ smartphone app that automates collecting, generating, changing, sharing and the using of your online usernames and passwords. It will provides users with a secure way to generate complex and secure passwords and securely store this information on the one device that individuals always carry - their smartphones. MagicKey will be able to record users’ current passwords, generate stronger passwords, automatically refresh passwords, and allow for secure sharing with trusted people, remote wiping, and master password lock-out protection. The initial version of MagicKey for Android (iPhone to follow) will be able to connect with  PCs, Macs, and tablets wirelessly and supports all popular web browsers.

“We chose to use IndieGoGo over other crowd-funding platforms like Kickstarter for many reasons,” said Gyle Iverson, MagicKey’s architect and creator. “One advantage of IndieGoGo is its boutique and uniquely unfiltered quality that has an international reach, which will help us create a global exposure and collaborate with friends and family overseas. Also, IndieGoGo campaigns receive all the money they have been pledged, whether the initial funding goal was reached or not. Competitors’ platforms only allow the campaign to receive their money if they reach their initial funding goal by a designated date.” MagicKey will be live on IndieGoGo until the end of the year and is seeking $250,000. Also, individuals who contribute via PayPal will be able to download the beta version of MagicKey.
