Nov. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- Mild mannered Brendan Townend, Patient Care Relations Manager for Atlantic Foot & Ankle Specialists in Savannah GA,  wears a suit made entirely of gently used shoes to help those in need. As "Shoe Man" Townend conquers the yearly Enmark Savannah Bridge run to help raise awareness of his companies donation shoe program "Keeping the Community on Their Feet".

Each year the program collects and redistributes hundreds of pairs of gently used shoes to local charitable organizations, such as the Savannah Union Mission and Bluffton Self Help. Local Savannah donation locations include Fleet Feet runners store, YMCA Islands branch, and every Atlantic Foot & Ankle Specialists office location.

The Bridge Run is an excellent opportunity to get the word out to as many runners as possible. This is helpful because most runners abandon their running shoes as soon as they no longer have that "optimal performance" feeling. While the shoes may be of no use to the runners anymore, they usually have lots of miles left to go.

The real goal is to get as many varied types of shoes as possible. Children's shoes are especially hard to come by, and with the holidays and winter around the corner all donations are greatly appreciated. This includes shoes of all types, boots, dress shoes and walking shoes.

Watch for "Shoe Man" as he makes his trek at the Enmark Savannah Bridge Run on Saturday, Dec 1 2012.
