Nov. 19, 2012 - PRLog -- MCLEAN, Va.—LMI (http://www.lmi.org/) has won a $10.3 million contract supporting the U.S. Department of State (http://www.state.gov/) through survey-based population forecasts of passport product demand. The competitively awarded five-year, firm-fixed-price contract is comprised of an initial base year and four option years to continue work previously performed by Gallup, Inc., for the State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs, Passport Services (http://travel.state.gov/passport/about/about_894.html).

“LMI’s surveying capabilities are well-suited to provide the State Department with key data that will enable them to efficiently and effectively manage their staffing and resources for this critical program,” LMI Systems Development (http://www.lmi.org/Services/Information-Management/Systems-Development.aspx) Program Director Joseph Zurlo said. “Americans who travel abroad expect strong government support performed in a fiscally responsible manner, and this program will allow the State Department to continue providing easy access to the full range of passport services through careful resource allocation.”

Over the course of the contract, LMI will lead a team providing the State Department with statistical modeling, survey sampling, and survey fielding, which will be used to generate accurate monthly forecasts through:

● 4,000 completed surveys per month.

● Quarterly focus groups.

● Behavioral analysis of passport demand.

● Integration of survey data with focus group and publicly available data on passport demand related factors.

● Monthly forecasts of demand for passport products utilizing cutting edge statistical methodologies and an extensive set of predictive factors.

LMI provides the overall project management, forecast modeling, reporting, and facilitation of focus groups. As prime contractor, LMI will manage subcontracted work performed by Horsham, Pa.-based Marketing Systems Group (http://www.m-s-g.com/) (MSG) (providing the survey sampling and non-response analyses), and Allentown, Pa.-based Survey Technology and Research (http://www.strcenter.com/) (STR) (conducting the survey).
