The Kent Minigolf Club will be looking to become three-time BMGA British Club Champions as they defend the national team title that they first won in 2010 and successfully defended in 2011.
The Minigolf Clubs competing in 2012 are reigning and defending BMGA British Club Champions – the Kent Minigolf Club; Basingstoke Minigolf Club; Cambridgeshire Mini Golf Club; Hampshire Minigolf Club; London Minigolf Club; Midlands Minigolf Club and the Planet Hastings Crazy Golf Club. The Basingstoke and Hampshire Clubs will be competing in the tournament for the first time. Each team will consist of three or four players with the best three scores in each team counting as a team total for the hole in the Matchplay format event.
Chairman of the British Minigolf Association Sean Homer said “The BMGA is delighted to be holding the 2012 British Club Championship at the new 9-hole minigolf course at the Basingstoke Golf Centre. This is the venue’s debut on the BMGA Tour and should not only provide a great challenge to all of the teams taking part, but also help level the playing field as there is no home advantage for any of the main contenders for the title. We are expecting the biggest turnout of teams for the 2012 event and as such it promises to be an exciting, hard fought competition and provide a fitting climax to a terrific minigolf season.”
BMGA British Club Championships Honours Board:

• London Minigolf Club – three-time champions
• Kent Minigolf Club – two-time (and defending) champions
• Midlands Minigolf Club – one time champions

Kent Minigolf Club Captain Sean Homer said “It’s a great honour for me to lead our club again at the BMGA Club Championships. Having won the event for the past two years the KMGC are coming back to defend our title with the strongest squad in our seven year history. With three superb teams lining up at the event – the returning Spitfires and Hurricanes along with our new team, the Tornados – we are feeling confident that we can make it three-in-a-row and keep the trophy in Kent once again. We are of course expecting a strong challenge from the ‘new kids on the block’ the Cambridgeshire Mini Golf Club, along with the established Midlands and London clubs, and the Matchplay format means that there are always one or two shocks in the competition so we won’t be underestimating any of the teams on the 25th. But above all, I know that all of our players are primed and ready and will give everything to retain the title and finish the season once again as the BMGA British Club Champions.”
The BMGA British Club Championship will be the final competition in the 2012 BMGA Tour season. During the current season the BMGA has organised a total of 26 Minigolf events around the country. This has included fourteen ranking events at nine courses. There have been a further twelve Minigolf competitions played during the year. A total of eighteen players have won a Minigolf event in 2012 with BMGA British Number One Michael Smith adding ten victories to his career record of 19 BMGA Tour career wins.
