Follow on Google News | A little bite of Zuckerberg’s cake – API Hours ConferenceAPI Hours - first Facebook app developers conference is already behind us. Over 100 participants and 6 excellent speakers met in Cracow at November, 6th. The event was organized by Ganymede - social and mobile games developer.
By: Ganymede A few hours long meeting over a beer was organized in collaboration with Facebook, and consisted of several presentations discussing various aspects of API implementation. Most of these were case studies of particular applications, while dominating theme turned out to be gamification and social games implementation. Barcamp was opened with a talk by Marcin Lewicki - the conference expert, about the possibilities of Open Graph development in context of mobile platforms - Android and iOS - as well as web-based applications. Prepared in cooperation with engineers working for Facebook, the presentation was a useful introduction to the further points in agenda. Bartek Nowotarski, Megafoni CEO, talked about a project awarded with two prizes during first hackaton organized by Facebook in Poland. Flower Power is an application that makes use of specialized soil probe and notifies user whether the monitored plant needs watering. Irek Olczak and Adrian Witkowski discussed the cooperation between HBO Poland and gamification platform Gamfi.pl. Among many other issues, they explained the motives for network's engagement in gamification and detailed what business goals the partners managed to achieve. The subject of gamification was raised once again in presentation by Leszek Bukowski. This lecturer in Polish-Japanese Institute of Information Technology introduced a game model based on co-liking posts on fanpage. Finally, the participants were offered a true gaming thrill. Last presentation concerned integration of the game titled Last Temple with Open Graph. Last Temple is the latest production of Ganymede, available on Facebook and AppStore. It is a match-three puzzle game, that invites the player right into the middle of magical shaman village. Everyone had the chance to try themselves in the Last Temple Contest and win prizes. End
