President 952-831-7870 bobbyandstevesautoworldyouthfoundation.org Bobby and Steve’s Auto World Youth Foundation to give the gift of reading this holiday season EDEN PRAIRIE, MN (Nov. 18) – Literacy in Minnesota is fueling Bobby and Steve’s Auto World Youth Foundation to focus on a new project: Read with Santa. This event, that kicks off on December 1, will have Santa read to children, and give kids sets of books to take home with them as an effort to give greater exposure to early reading and literacy. Bobby and Steve’s Youth Foundation is teaming with the Minnesota Literacy Council and the Minnesota Reading Corp, who will have volunteers at each of Bobby and Steve’s Auto World locations talking to parents about the importance of reading with and to children. Research has shown that early reading can predict success throughout a lifetime of learning. Statistics show that “children who do not have basic reading skills by third grade struggle to catch up in future years. Those with poor reading skills are more likely to be on welfare, unemployed or underemployed, and more likely to be involved in crime and/or substance abuse.” Bobby and Steve’s Auto World Youth Foundation recognizes the importance of reading and are excited to take part in helping children in Minnesota gain access to this important key to successful futures. Read with Santa will take place Saturday, Dec 1 from 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at the West Bloomington Bobby and Steve’s Auto World. Santa will take his sleigh full of books to the Eden Prairie store at 1:30 until 3:30 and then fly to the 494 and France location from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Santa visits the other stores on the following Saturday, December 8. He will start at 11:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at the 58th and Nicollet store, next visiting the Washington Ave store from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and finishes his tour at 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Columbia Heights location.
