PRLog - Dec. 11, 2012 - FORT MILL, S.C. -- Chelsea Rae Gregory is keeping busy as Miss South Carolina United States 2012 as she helps The Sandbox feed the families whose children are suffering from life threatening illnesses. On Friday, November 16th, Chelsea hosted Little Miss United States 2012, Aly McNair, Renee McNair, Director for the Miss NC and SC United States pageants, Taylor Tarquin, Miss Jr. Teen United States and her mother Joy Tarquin for a night of baking to benefit The Sandbox.
The queens made 20 pumpkin loaves, and over 250 cookies to box up and add to Thanksgiving meals that will be distributed to over 30 families in the Charlotte area who are struggling due to illnesses affecting their families.
Then on Sunday, November 18, Miss Gregory delivered the baked goods to the committee chairperson while picking up a dinner that she delivered to a family in Salisbury, NC. "The young lady just found out that her cancer had returned, so I wanted to be sure to try and lift her spirits just a little with the dinner," said Gregory. And all of this was done after riding on a float in the Monroe Christmas Parade.
Miss Gregory has been a Goodwill Ambassador for The Sandbox for two years. The Sandbox is a local charity that locks arms with the community in hopes of helping those families whose children are battling cancer, and other life threatening illnesses. Their first endeavor was to host a prom for the children who didn't get to attend their own school dances due to treatment or being too sick to go.
Chelsea will be continuing to help others in her community as Christmas approaches.
