Legendary Planet—St. Louis’ newest publisher of thrilling fiction

Legendary Planet publishes new and classic adventure, mystery and thrillers.

St. Louis, MO — Legendary Planet, St. Louis’ newest independent publisher, announced the upcoming release of four novels—two reissued classics and two all-new originals—for the fourth quarter of 2012.

“There was a time when ‘good book’ and ‘good story’ meant the same thing,” said Legendary Planet Publisher Patrick Dorsey. “Great characters and plots combined to create great stories that are still read and re-read and adapted today. In an indie publishing world heavy on literary fiction, we think there’s an audience that wants to read both these classics and new adventures told in the same spirit.”

Beginning with reissues of the classics A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs and Fantômas by Marcel Allain & Pierre Souvestre—two books that weren’t just smashes upon their original publication a century ago, but that also changed the literary landscape and created archetypes of character and story that are still imitated in books and movies today. The reissues will be followed by two all-original novels by local authors, with a schedule of further reissues and originals still shaping up for 2013.

“Great cover art is absolutely essential to the experience of reading and getting to know a book,” said Co-Publisher Evan Willnow. “How many reading adventures began with a glimpse of art by Frank Frazetta, Richard Chopping, or N.C. Wyeth?” All Legendary Planet titles, he points out, strive for stunning cover art, both original and restored from vintage. And for ebooks, other digital media will be included as available.

“The current technologies are amazing,” Dorsey continued. “What we can include, what we can produce. For really the first time in history, small, independent publishers like Legendary Planet can afford to reach

out to audiences worldwide. We are thrilled to bring these stories to the readers out there.”
