Follow on Google News | Short Story Competition Brings Together the Visual and the LiteraryShanti Arts Publishing is collaborating with the Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance to sponsor a competition in which Maine writers are invited to submit short stories based on the paintings of Maine artist Leslie Anderson.
By: Shanti Arts LLC Judging the competition will be award-winning author Ron Currie, Jr. The New York Times has said Currie is a “startlingly talented writer whose book [Everything Matters!] will pay no heed to ordinary narrative conventions… Those wishing to participate should select one of Anderson's paintings, which are viewable at www.shantiarts.co, and write a short story inspired by the painting. Writers also need to submit a completed registration form and a non-refundable submission fee of $15. Further important details are available at www.shantiarts.co or www.mainewriters.org. This contest is open to all Maine residents aged 18 and older. Submissions are being accepted now and remain open until March 1st, 2013. Winners will be notified by May 15th, 2013. The book release is scheduled for fall 2013. Winners receive a $50 honorarium in the form of a gift certificate and copies of the book.
