PRLog - Nov. 16, 2012 - EASTHAMPTON, Mass. -- Easthampton, MA – Easthampton fine art photographer publishes his latest book, “2012 CHRONOLOGY.” This is Gehrt’s seventh book in a series of self-published titles produced through online printing services. Gehrt’s images document his daily life in, around, and beyond the Pioneer Valley.  Gehrt has been capturing the daily scenes in the Pioneer Valley for 22 years that celebrate in part the local community.

“It is important to me that my art work is a reflection of my local environment. This could be seen in a vista from the top of Mount Holyoke, or in a summer evening walk around my Easthampton neighborhood.” Gehrt’s book of 180 pages, contain the daily scenes that document the time and space around him.

Gehrt’s introduction states, “Chronology is order. It's a path from point A to point B, or a series of events that lead up to the present day. These images are the chronological order of the selected scenes that I have captured in 2012. They tend to be ordinary places that I find along my way to point B. Soon point B becomes A and a never-ending cycle begins. I am along for the ride, documenting the scenes as I progress. Events are unfolding and new locations and objects are seen as I compose the image in the viewfinder. The light highlights and draws attention to the subjects. Through the pages of a book, time can be sped up or slowed down, played in reverse or moved forward. The images may feel random, but they are bound by the scenes as they present themselves. The subjects will vary but they all have a place in the chronological order of one year.”

Gehrt has been self-publishing through online print on demand services. He has published six other titles over the past 4 years. The publishing of this book is timely with consumers that are interested in supporting the local arts economy by purchasing Holiday gifts from Pioneer Valley Artists.

Gehrt’s books are available through his online bookstore, http://www.blurb.com/user/store/jgehrt. His work can also be seen on his portfolio site, http://frntprchprss.500px.com/#/0, or on Facebook at, https://www.facebook.com/pages/Front-Porch-Editions, or contact him directly at jamesgehrt@gmail.com.
