A one night stay, dinner and spa treatment at the luxurious Montage Laguna Beach was awarded to three participants at Kristie’s Foundation First Annual Butterfly Walk

Montage Laguna Beach is set on the edge of a coastal bluff overlooking the Pacific in the artistic colony of Laguna Beach. The lucky raffle winners received one of three prizes: a one night stay with an ocean view in one of Montage Laguna Beach’s luxurious guest rooms, dinner for two at the resort’s fine dining restaurant, The Loft or a 60-minute spa treatment at the award winning Spa Montage. Kristie’s generously offered up these certificates and it created quite a bit of excitement among the 123 walkers. The walk proved to be a family fun event, with over 100 real monarch butterflies being released at the conclusion. The success of their first walk and the excitement of the raffle will set the tone for many more wonderful family outings hosted by the organization.
Money from the Butterfly Walk is going toward Kristie’s Comfort Care program. Kristie's Comfort Care program will offer non-medical support to families at home facing their child’s final days. Utilizing licensed nurse aides, Kristie's Foundation will help bathe, feed and care for the child, and provide respite care for parents. Grief Specialists will help support the family emotionally. At this point in their child's illness, Kristie's families are overwhelmed and usually have very limited resources. Due to budget cuts, these services have been cut from hospitals and hospice programs. This service will be invaluable to Kristie's families!

A 501(c)(3) organization, Kristie’s was started by Founder and Executive Director, Laurie Kotas. Inspired by her daughter, Kristie, who died of leukemia at age 7, Laurie wanted to start an organization focusing on children’s end-of-life care.
