“We have so much gratitude for the Veterans who unselfishly and sacrificially served this country,” said Cathy Lightfoot, director of sales and marketing at The Buckingham. “The luncheon was a great way to honor these brave individuals and proved to be a great opportunity for Veterans to share with one another their memories from their time in the service.”
The Buckingham’s operational sister communities also hosted Veteran’s Day events in their respective cities. Each community hosted their own unique celebration. The Stayton at Museum Way in Fort Worth hosted a special happy hour honoring Veterans and their spouses and later hosted a brunch in their honor. In Austin, Querencia hosted author James Hornfischer who spoke about his recent book, Neptune’s Inferno: The untold story of the U.S. Navy’s bloodiest fight of World War II: the epic struggle for Guadacanal. Edgemere, located in Dallas, hosted a happy hour and ceremony that honored Veterans who’ve moved to the community in the past year by adding their names to the eternal plaque that hangs in a place of honor in the community’s library and lists the names of all Edgemere residents who served. In Corpus Christi, Mirador hosted a memorable event honoring their resident Veterans. Each event was a special way for the communities to recognize Veterans living at the communities and commemorate their service to our country.
