Follow on Google News | Ankeny Business Owner Honored for Service to Information Security ProfessionAnkeny business owner and ISSA – Des Moines Chapter President, Dave Nelson, was among 18 new Fellow Program members honored by the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) ® on October 26 during the ISSA International Conference 2012.
“The Fellow designation recognizes an individual's significant contribution to both the ISSA and the information security community as a whole. We are proud to grant Dave this well-deserved recognition.” Mr. Nelson is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) with 20 years of experience. He has led technology organizations in both the public and private sector. Prior to founding Integrity, he most recently was the Chief Information Security Officer for a leading health informatics company. He also managed an information security group for a top 5 U.S. banking organization, was the CIO for a higher education institution and served as the information security officer for one of the largest municipal governments on the east coast. Mr. Nelson received his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Computer Information Systems from Excelsior College. He has also taught and developed information technology curriculum at the post-secondary level, is a published author and speaker at national conferences. He lives in Ankeny with his wife and 4 children. The ISSA is dedicated to developing and connecting cybersecurity leaders globally and is the community of choice for international cybersecurity professionals dedicated to advancing individual growth, managing technology risk and protecting critical information and infrastructure. The primary goal of the ISSA is to promote management practices that will ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information resources. ISSA facilitates interaction and education to create a more successful environment for global information systems security and for the professionals involved. Members include practitioners at all levels of the security field in a broad range of industries such as communications, education, healthcare, manufacturing, financial, and government. ISSA confers Fellow status to no more than 2% of its membership.
