Nov. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- The Federal Government announced today the Solar Credits Scheme would be phased out six months early on January 1, 2013.

The Solar Credits Scheme offers financial support for the installation of small-scale solar systems by way of tradable small-scale technology certificates or STCs.

Ingenero CEO Steve McRae said today’s announcement will create more instability in the industry.

“It is these kinds of unexpected changes with short timeframes imposed on customers and the industry that create a boom/bust cycle in our sector and make running a sustainable business difficult,” Mr McRae said.

“While the Solar Credits Scheme was always designed to be phased out in 2013, it is disappointing that homeowners now have six months less time to take advantage of the cost benefits STCs created,” he said.

“I urge homeowners who are confused by the changes and have been thinking about switching to solar power to contact Ingenero in the coming weeks.”

Ingenero will extend operating hours over the next six weeks to cater for the expected influx in solar enquiries.
