PRLog - Nov. 15, 2012 - Eighteen-year-old Minigolfer Seth Thomas from Wandsworth, London won the seventh-annual Kent Open as he defeated 31 players in the Minigolf tournament held over three-rounds at the Lost Island Encounter Adventure Golf course at World of Golf, Sidcup on Sunday 11th November.

The tournament was played out over 54-holes on the 18-hole Explorers Adventure Golf Course at World of Golf, Sidcup with all players using the new Kent Minigolf Club (KMGC) Minigolf Ball.

Seth Thomas, a member of the Cambridgeshire Minigolf Club, won the event with a score of 99(-9) following rounds of 30, 32, 37. The tournament runner-up position was decided in a sudden-death play-off between KMGC members Tony and Adam Kelly. It was Linton, Cambridgeshire’s Tony Kelly who defeated his son Adam Kelly in the play-off after both players tied on a score of 105(-3).

Commenting on his victory, two-time Kent Open Champion Seth Thomas said “I am very happy to retain the Kent Open title and be the first player ever to do so. I’m even more pleased to join Sean Homer as a two-time winner. Congratulations to Tony Kelly for coming second at this tournament. That only three players were able to break par despite the benign conditions shows how tricky a course it can be. This also stands as the first Minigolf title to be won by the Cambridgeshire Minigolf Club, but it certainly won't be the last.”

A total of 32 players entered the Kent Open, with thirteen novice players picking up a Putter in their first, second, or third tournament appearance on the British Minigolf Association Tour.

Other prize winners at the competition were Craig Patterson who won the Novice title. Brian Smith was Novice runner-up, defeating David Pragnell in a play-off. David Simpson won the most improved player of the event with a 17-shot improvement between his first and last round scores. Kieran Jones was a close runner-up with a twelve-shot improvement over the tournament. Margate’s Scott Lancley won the Aces champion prize for most holes-in-one during the tournament with a total of nine Aces. Kyle McSporran won the Novice Aces champion prize with a total of five holes-in-one. In the Spot Aces prizes Seth Thomas and Chris Smith both achieved ‘trilogy aces’ on holes seven and nine respectively (Aceing the holes in all three of their rounds). Brad Shepherd and David Simpson also picked up prizes for Aceing the 18th hole.

Sean Homer, Captain of the Kent Minigolf Club said “Thanks to all who played and special thanks to Sue and Jennifer Forrest for their support in running the event. The KMGC would once again like to thank Mark Davies and the team at World of Golf for their ongoing support of the Kent Minigolf Club and the event. We look forward to seeing everyone again in 2013!"
