Nov. 15, 2012 - PRLog -- The African communications infrastructure space is scheduled to receive a boost including product variety, an increase in technical skills and improved service as a result of the acquisition by Sonus of NET (Network Equipment Technologies), an advantage that will be transferred through local Sonus Select Partner, Q-KON South Africa.

Q-KON SA is an established provider of managed satellite services and a distributor of niche products to the growing African telecommunications market.

The company has a successful ten-year record of NET solution provision to the growing Microsoft Lync Session Border Controller (SBC) and Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA) market.

This channel of supply has centred on the rollout of NET UX1000 and UX2000 solutions designed for Microsoft Lync deployments – for small-to-medium enterprise applications.

Sonus’ recent acquisition of NET allows it to leverage off an established supply and support route into the small to medium-end UC market.

It also means Sonus will automatically secure the respected Microsoft Gold Partnership certification and address an increasing need for support of Microsoft Lync best-of-breed solutions.

With the signing of a new partner contract with Sonus, Q-KON SA has become a Sonus Select Partner - the highest level amongst the three available to prospective partners.

As a result the continent stands to benefit from access to an established level of maintenance and support, as well as to the Sonus SBC 5100 and SBC 5200 products.

“Traditionally, Sonus product has been more suited to carriers, providers and large enterprises. They had nothing that could scale down into the normal enterprise market or into the Microsoft Lync market. The acquisition of NET made sense because it offered them a way to get into enterprise space and add depth to their product range,” explains Tjaart de Wet, MD at Q-KON SA. “And for us, one of the benefits is that we now have access to the high-end SBC’s required by providers in regional POP’s and at the core.”
