Besides all the fun to be had, the clients of Explorations were impressed with the organization and management of the event. Even with no Spanish language skills, the expansive festival grounds were easy to navigate and buying products was easy. They appreciated that the grounds were kept so clean and all the polite people willing to help with directions or interpretations. The also group took advantage of the dedicated bus system organized for Mistura, by departing from the LarcoMar shopping mall close to their Lima hotel.
The Explorations group's day at Mistura was part of a 13-day adventure tour in Peru. In addition to touring in Lima, the group visited Cuzco, archaeology sites and villages in and near the Sacred Valley of the Inca, and Machu Picchu in the Andes. They also experienced the Amazon rainforest with a 3 day trip into the Tambopata region of Peru, an area famous for its Macaw clay licks.
With the success of the Mistura 2012 tour, Explorations plans to hold a similar itinerary again in September of 2013. Like the Spanish word "mistura", which means mixture, the small group tour will mix cultures, cuisines, and geography. Explorations labels it a "Cultural and Culinary Exploration from the Andes to the Amazon". More information about the planned tour can be found online at: http://www.adventuresofdiscovery.com/
